Educate. Elevate. Celebrate.
Our student-athletes had the opportunity to hear from @VanderbiltU historian Brandon Byrd about the significance of #Juneteenth. Thank you, @bronaldbyrd.
#AnchorDownThanks to Dr. Byrd for sharing his knowledge about #Juneteenth. We should all be inspired by the perseverance that transformed our Nation. Emancipation may have occurred on paper, but we are still working collectively towards freedom, equity, and equality to advance our society.

How I Accidentally Met Rod Marinelli #StoryTimeWithDJMoore

By DJ Moore Every day I would walk onto the practice field 30 to 45 minutes early. Arriving early gave me the freedom of being able to do things I would not normally do, like kicking field goals. I really enjoyed that. Each day I saw this older man, with a sleeve on his leg, who seemed like he could barely walk. He would walk beside me to practice. At the time, I was a hard-headed rookie struggling on the field, and was looking for someone to talk with about my situation. Day after day, we walked out to the indoor practice facility together, and the more I saw him, …

What’s Up With The NFL Officiating? #StoryTimeWithArmstrong

By Anthony Armstrong The biggest addition to the 2019 NFL season is the ability for coaches to challenge pass interference calls or, most notably, the no-calls. This all stems from the 2018 NFC Championship game between the Rams and the Saints. The refs missed a blatant PI call that could have changed the outcome of the game. Who Dat Nation was pissed. They told Commissioner Roger Goodell to, “Geaux to hell” and demanded some change. The league answered with the most confusing and convoluted rule that would allow coaches to challenge pass interference penalties. Of the 50 challenge flags that were thrown for pass interference in the preseason, only five …

The NFL is a Cutthroat League #StoryTimeWithDJMoore

By DJ Moore The toughest part of being in an NFL locker room was the potential of seeing your friends dismissed from the team. Every year it hurt like it was the first time. When the big time players were cut or traded, it made me feel insecure as a lesser valued player. Heading into training camp number three with the Chicago Bears, I was very excited about the season. We had just come off an NFC Championship loss, and I felt the sky was the limit for the coming season. I was moving into our camp over at Olivet Nazarene University, and I walked to get all my credentials. On the way back …

My Top 10 Wide Receivers for 2019

By Earl Bennett There is always a debate about receivers and who should be ranked higher. Are they rated off stats, pure abilities or in-depth analysis of game tape? What is typically missing from “the top” receiver conversation is their intellect, toughness, blocking and effecting the team when they are not receiving the ball. Drawing coverage, being the clear-out guy and occasionally taking a break to discombobulate the defense. Teams practice and study for the top players to be in the game a lot. So, when they are not, they can run their usual defense, which makes play a little easier than usual. There is no doubt that most …

The Rookie Dinner #StoryTimeWithJP
2009, week 6. The day was set for me and another fellow rookie to take the secondary out to what is called, “The Rookie dinner.” I had heard plenty of stories from the past that were not encouraging, but I wanted to have a good time and enjoy the night. We all get to Ruth’s Chris Steak House at 7pm. They take our group to a secluded back room where expensive looking champagne and liquor bottles were set up nicely and circled the entire room. The waitress is opening a particular champagne bottle and filling glasses every other second. Another waiter is bringing food in every five minutes, well at least that’s how it seemed. The veteran players were starting to fill the room, and I noticed something wrong immediately. Most of the players brought either …
