We had just lost a couple of games in a row. Practice after weeks of losing always carried a severe sentiment. Game day finally arrived after a week of hard practices. I arrived at my game-day locker, where I daydreamed about my performance. You would have been hard-pressed to find a smile in the place. Everyone seemed to be on edge about getting off the losing streak.
Coaches started to emerge from the back of the locker room. This typically meant the game was soon to begin. The final coach who emerged, as always, was Lovie Smith. He had his standard game day steel-face look. His facial expression could take on Chuck Norris.
Anthony Adams, jumped up out of nowhere, and with his belly hanging out the bottom of his jersey, he burst into full dance mode. He hit the floor, spins and immediately jumped to his feet. Mr. Adam’s did this dance for about 3-5 minutes. I remember Lovie trying to hold it in, but he couldn’t. He burst into laughter. We all laughed for a minute straight. I think that’s exactly what we all needed that day to help us relax. You could always depend on Anthony to put you at ease.
